    about the girl

Hey there, I’m Kari! My plant journey began in 2008 when my now-husband and I purchased a home in Sauk Rapids. Our standard-sized city lot had no landscaping beyond freshly laid sod, so I jumped in and started digging. With my mom and mother-in-law providing self-started seedlings and divided perennials, I began planting. Each year, my gardens expanded alongside my growing botanical interests. I’ve gone through various “obsessions,” including lilies, dahlias, seed starting, propagating cuttings, building a succulent collection, enhancing my vegetable gardening, and most recently, growing "cut flowers" and making arrangements. While I've shared my creations with friends and family, I’m excited to take a step further and share them on a slightly larger scale. For the 2026 season, I will be offering fresh-cut arrangements from my self-serve stand at my home in Sauk Rapids! Follow A Girl and Her Plants on Facebook for sale dates!

    caring for your flowers

  • Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, heating or cooling vents, or directly under ceiling fans.
  • Place flowers in fresh, cool water every several days, or if you notice the water is cloudy. Re-cut the ends of the stems with a sharp knife if possible.
  • Flowers are decorative and not meant to be eaten. If you have pets, visit the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for a list of plants and flowers and their toxicity levels.
